Systems Infrastructure for the

Age of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is transforming healthcare, finance, governance, and will reshape computing systems—from mobile devices to edge, cloud, and future infrastructures. By the 2030s, computing will feature infrastructure supporting advanced AI workflows and new architectures integrating AI to automate system design, operation, and management. UT Austin’s InfraAI Center, in partnership with industry, tackles foundational challenges to innovate and redefine future AI-driven infrastructure systems.

NEXT-GEN SYSTEMS FOR

NEXT-GEN AI

InfraAI’s Research Centers on Two Pillars

First, the research builds nimble AI stacks that embrace hardware and model diversity, evolve with new workloads, and democratize access to AI. Current stacks are rigid and resource-intensive; InfraAI will re-architect training and inference systems to treat heterogeneity as a core feature, enabling efficient, adaptable, and accessible AI infrastructure.

Second, the research develops intelligent infrastructures that embed adaptive, AI-driven decision-making across cloud, edge, and device systems. Replacing manual operations with AI-based control, InfraAI will create general abstractions and building blocks for responsive, efficient, and safe management of rapidly evolving infrastructures.
